One Year Of Quarantine Dream!

One year ago today I debuted my first official EP, Quaratnite Dream. It's crazy to think that it was only a year ago! Back when we were all cooped up in our homes, quarantined to our own devices. Just waiting for the months to pass so that we could do something as simple as enjoy a walk in the park, or grab a cup of coffee. It feels like only recently have we begun to return to a sense of normalcy. For instance It took one whole year since this release to lift the mask mandate, and even still there are concerns on whether or not this virus will be coming back.

But I regress, I'm not writing this post to talk about politics or the state of the world, though I do think it's good to reflect on how much has changed within one of the craziest years of our lifetimes.

Now back to the music!

I am stoked that my first official release had amassed about 250 streams on Spotify alone! I wasn't expecting all that much, especially with the fact that this project received zero funding for any kind of advertising or promotion. So I'm thrilled to see this EP gain some traction on all it's own! it gives me hope that some momentum will carry over for my next release.

I learned a lot in the creation and execution of putting this EP together. A lot of which was mentioned in my original Quarantine Dream blog post linked below

A couple of things I'd like to add about the making of this EP and going forward. This project was really fun to make, I really enjoyed getting deep into the digital synths, and making music with my computer. It was also a really great exercise and crash course into having a better understanding of ableton and what it can do as a program as well as an instrument. With that being said, I don't see myself making something similar to this EP in the near future. I'm sure I'll be using a lot of the same editing features and a few of the digital synths and drums as I did in making this project. But going forward I plan on using more acoustic and analog sounds that weren't featured in this release. I think moving towards this more organic direction will lead to more... Approachable? music which is much more in line with what I've wanted to to in my musical pursuits. With all of that being said, I'm still very happy that I came to completion with this project, and I'm glad it's out there for anyone to enjoy and discover.

I still give this EP a listen from time to time. I've put all of the songs into my day to day playlist and they surface every now and again. It's very easy for me to listen and focus on the inconsistencies and mistakes. But in my mind they're just little reminders of what to do differently this next time around :)

I hope Quarantine Dream Has given y'all as much joy as it has me over the year! If you ever find the desire to give it a listen you can find it on all of the major streaming services, as well as bandcamp and my website! Thank you for the read, and I'll be posting again soon! it's been too long, but I do have plans on releasing some more content in the near future. So stay tuned!
